Cities articulate their needs as Calls for Solutions in areas such as transport, health, civic participation, accessibility and tourism. These are then published to the global innovation community to find the most suitable existing solutions. Until November 2012

Companies, social entrepreneurs and research centres submit their solutions to LLGA2013 in the format of Citymart.com showcases. The submission deadline is 6 February 2013 (23:59 UTC).

Jury teams evaluate the solutions against set criteria and nominate the 5 highest scoring solutions for Round 2. Nominated solutions are announced on Citymart.com and invited to confirm their participation in Round 2, including attending the Summit on Service Innovation in Cities in San Francisco in May 2013. Nominees will be announced in March 2013.

Nominees submit further information to be evaluated, they complete and submit: (1) a confidential Questionnaire about the proposed pilot and (2) a Video presentation of their solution (published after the LLGA | Cities Summit). Submission deadlines for both items is 10 April 2013. Jury teams evaluate the Questionnaires and Videos. They may also contact nominees in writing via Citymart.com to clarify any further questions.

Each City will announce the solution selected for piloting during the Cities Dialogue at the LLGA | Cities Pilot, exclusively attended by city representatives and nominees, as part of the 3-day matchmaking summit. May 2013.

Those providers selected for piloting will work together with cities to plan and implement a pilot of their solution. June 2013 onwards

Following or coinciding with the piloting process, cities share results and begin to adopt learnings into their procurement and regulatory process.
